Experience Kastelruth.

Take a stroll through the town center, stop at the village square, and let your gaze rise to the church tower. Small museums, churches and events tell of the history and traditions of the region. Kastelruth becomes especially lively at the Knödelfest, Spatzenfest or during the Advent season, when the Christmas market makes the village square glow.

Kastelruth Church Tower

With its distinctive onion dome, the church tower defines the townscape of Kastelruth. If you’d like, you can even visit it and ascend more than 298 wooden steps to the top.

Spatzen museum

The Kastelruther Spatzen are an inseparable part of the town. In the Spatzen museum everything revolves around the well-known music group, and in October at the Kastelruther Spatzenfest the whole village becomes a stage.

The Kofel

Calvary Hill above Kastelruth combines a leisurely walk with history and panoramic views. Old wall remnants, small chapels, and the view over the village rooftops make the Kofel a special place right nearby.

Castles and Palaces near Kastelruth

Above Waidbruck, Trostburg Castle towers with its historic halls, Gothic fortifications and Renaissance furnishings. Today it is also home to the South Tyrolean Castle Museum. Not far away, a visit to the impressive Prösels Castle is also well worthwhile.

Tradition and Indulgence in Kastelruth

In autumn, the Törggelen with young wine, chestnuts and South Tyrolean specialties is simply part of the season. And when, in Advent, the Christmas market fills the village square, Kastelruth reveals yet another, completely different side. It is precisely this mix of tradition, enjoyment and village life that makes the place so special.
